Lecture Capture

Privacy policy

Effective October 7, 2026. Applies to the Lecture Capture Chrome extension.

Lecture Capture does not collect, transmit, sell or share any of your data. Everything it saves goes to a folder or .zip file on your own computer, and nowhere else. There is no account, no server and no analytics.

What the extension reads

When you start an archive, Lecture Capture reads your own course materials from the Canvas, Panopto and Mediasite sites you are already signed in to: your course list, files, pages, announcements, and lecture transcripts. It reads them inside your open Canvas, Panopto and Mediasite tabs, using requests to those same sites, with the sign-in you already have. It never asks for, sees or stores your password.

It only reads sites you allow. Access to Canvas (instructure.com) and Panopto (panopto.com) is requested when you click Allow access, and access to your school's Mediasite site is requested for that one site when you first add lectures from it, and you can remove it at any time from Chrome's extension settings.
